Dr. David Borenstein, MD is the founder of Manhattan Integrative Medicine and one of South Florida's most recognized physicians in integrative and functional medicine. He earned his medical degree from the Technion Faculty of Medicine in Haifa, Israel, completed his internship at Staten Island University Hospital, and went on to hold prestigious clinical appointments at leading medical facilities throughout his career. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, holds certification in Medical Acupuncture, and carries board certifications from both the American College for Advancement in Medicine and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Early in his career, an encounter with a patient suffering from fibromyalgia who failed to improve under conventional care pushed him to look further. That search led him to integrative and functional medicine, and it changed the entire direction of his practice. He has since been published in the European Journal of Ultrasound and served as Chief Investigator on a research project focused on spinal cord injuries.
Dr. Borenstein started this blog because too many patients arrive at his office having been dismissed, misdiagnosed, or simply handed a prescription and sent on their way. His voice on these pages reflects more than two decades of clinical work across physical medicine, acupuncture, stem cell therapy, regenerative medicine, and functional health. He writes with the same directness he brings to a patient consultation. A recurring question he addresses is why two people with identical symptoms can require completely different treatment paths. That question sits at the core of how he practices. When he introduced adipose-derived stem cell procedures through the Cell Surgical Network out of California, he saw firsthand that orthopedic conditions like knee osteoarthritis responded in ways symptom-based treatments simply could not match, because stem cells can repair damaged tissue rather than mask the pain.
Readers of this blog can expect practical, grounded perspectives on root-cause medicine, regenerative therapies, and the kind of personalized care that goes well beyond a standard lab panel. Dr. Borenstein writes about the conditions he treats most, including chronic fatigue, hormonal imbalances, gut dysfunction, and musculoskeletal pain, explaining not just what the treatments are but why they work and when they don't. Posts appear with the same honesty he brings to patient consultations: direct, specific, and never oversimplified.
